Serra Mar Sul Sector

The Serra Mar Sul Sector is the Santa Catarina portion of the Great Atlantic Forest Reserve, a region of unique natural beauty that extends along the coast, advancing through Babitonga Bay until reaching the mountain municipalities and the northern plateau of the state. The craggy glimpse of Serra Dona Francisca offers a combination of beautiful landscape with gastronomic attractions typical of the German communities that live there.

At the top of the Serra, the unique Campos do Quiriri can be found, a unique region of high altitude fields that can be visited by tourists who want both adventure and beautiful landscapes. The bustling Babitonga Bay is home to an endemic population of the extremely rare porpoise, which can be seen sharing space with the acrobatic Guiana dolphins.

The well-known coastal cities of São Francisco do Sul, Itapoá, Balneário Barra do Sul and Araquari receive an intense flow of visitors in search of sun and beach, but maintain an extensive area of coastal plain and sandbanks that are still well protected, as in the Acaraí State Park , at REVIS Nascente do Saí and at RPPN Volta Velha.
