Quatro Barras preserves within its history and territory the first trails of Paraná. For over a hundred years, the region was divided between Curitiba, Campina Grande do Sul, and Piraquara, until November 9, 1961, when the municipality was officially created by Law No. 4,338/61. The city’s name refers to the “bars” (river mouths) of the Canguiri, Timbu, Bracajuvava, and Capitanduva rivers. With an area of 169.47 km² and 37 neighborhoods, the municipality has a population of approximately 22,000 inhabitants, predominantly of Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and German descent.
