The term Lagamar refers to the geographic character of the region, where numerous rivers descend from the mountains and meet the sea, interwoven with channels, islands, and sandbanks, forming a striking and diverse landscape. It is within the Lagamar Portal that the Ribeira de Iguape River completes its journey to the ocean, flowing into the Mar Pequeno.

Here, you will always find an itinerary suited to your interests—from hikes through forests and deserted beaches to canoe trips; from wildlife observation to cycling trails. Within this Portal, visitors encounter forests, mangroves, beaches, rivers, waterfalls, mountains, valleys, islands, and a rich cultural and historical heritage. It could hardly be otherwise: as early as 1498, Spanish explorers were already venturing through this region—and the spirit of adventure continues to this day.

The Lagamar Portal includes four municipalities: Cananéia, which combines natural attractions with rich colonial architecture and vibrant culture; Iguape, which grew from a small village founded by Spaniards in 1498; Ilha Comprida, a seaside destination stretching 74 km in length and about 4 km in width, with beautiful beaches to the east and the Mar Pequeno to the west; and Pariquera-Açu, a former imperial colony established to receive European immigrants.
